How Does This Jump Battery Charge? | The Fanttik T8 APEX Battey

I am upgrading some equipment during this off-season and one of the items is this Fanttik T8 APEX Jump Battery. In this video, I test to see how well it does when used to charge the Fanttik X8 APEX Pump and a cell phone.

Of course you want to carry one of these jump battery just in case you bike's battery is dead when you get up in the morning, but in reality it is also going to be used to charge things like cell phones, lights etc. Since I do not have a dead vehicle to jump I decided to see how the T8 APEX, worked when charging both my Fanttik X8 APEX Pump and an old cell phone I had hanging around.

SPECS

  • Capacity: 74.0Wh
  • Peak Current: 2000A
  • Input USB-C: 20V->3.25A Max
  • Output USB-A: 12V->1.5A Max
  • Output USB-C: 20V->3.25A Max

Charging the X8 APEX Pump

When I started charging my X8 pump, it had just under 50% charge. The jump battery was at 96%.

It took just over two hours to return the pump to 100% capacity. The X8 battery had 50% charge remaining. It took about 46% of the batteries change to top off the pump using a 3.25 A USB-C port.

Charging a Cell Phone

Next, I found an old cell phone that had about 45% charge in its battery. I hooked it up to the T8 battery using the 1.25 A USB-A port and it took about 4 hours to fully charge the cell phone.

After topping off the cell phone, the T8 has 28%  remaining, so it used about 22% of its charge to fill the cell phone.

Are Those Numbers Good?

To find out if these numbers were good or bad, I compared them to another jump battery that I had purchased several years back. This battey, the XP-10 Microstart from Antigravity Batteries has served me well over the years and still holds a charge for quite a long time. When I used this battery to charge my cell phone while traveling, it takes about 20% per day of the XP-10's capacity.

The XP-10 does not have the digital readout of the Fanttik T8, so it is hard to do a direct comparison, however it appears that both batteries are basically equivelent; at least for charging a cell phone.

Pricing

The XP-10 from Antigravity retails for $169.99 which is about the same as the T8 APEX Battery at $169.97. Fanttik however is always running sales and at the time of this writing you can get this battery for $119.99 plus there is a 10% coupon available.

Things to Know

While the battery looks great and I really love the digital readout, the jumper cables are a bit "beefy" to use on most bikes. They will work well on my Triumph Tiger, because the battery is easy to get to, however on my Yamaha WR250, I will most likely have to slide the battery out of the bike to access the terminals.

The second thing is the the battery does not come with a charger. If you want to use the Fanttik charger, is extra at $45.97. I have a 3.25A charger, so I just used that, and it worked great.

These are not deal breakers and overall I think this T8 APEX Jump Battery form Fanttik is going to be a great addition to my tool kit.
